Indigo Children
BY CHIM LI YEN
Have you heard of the term ‘Indigo Children’? There have been a lot of information regarding this exciting phenomenon but discernment is required to separate the wheat from the chaff. Honestly, I am not very fond of labels but sometimes labels make it easier for us to comprehend certain concepts. Please read this article with an open mind and I encourage you to just let the information flow through without holding on to it.
Nancy Tappe saw the evolution of the colour indigo in a few babies born in the 60’s and 70’s and continuing until today when almost all babies born have the indigo colour so she labelled these children ‘Indigo Children’. This Indigo label described the energy pattern of human behaviour that now exists in over 95% of children born in the last 20 years.
Nancy is a synesthete, someone who smells colour and tastes shape. Foods that she eats have both colour and a geometrical shape attached to them. Synesthesia is a natural, neurobiological process where two or more senses are cross-wired in the brain, creating a dizzying array of sensory perceptions.
Each generation seemed to have a certain group consciousness, a group purpose which corresponds to a particular chakra and a colour. Indigo Children are a group of individuals who first arrived on Earth in the late 1970s. Some of the earliest ‘explorer’ Indigo Children arrived in small groups in the 1950s and 1960s to set the path for the larger group that would follow.
The Indigo Children represent the new consciousness we are all aspiring to achieve. Now as they move into adulthood, they are becoming the movers and shakers of our future. They are showing us that walking across the bridge to the future involves constant change and they emphasise the importance of listening to our hearts. They are here to transform our political, educational, family, nutritional systems and other systems that no longer serve us.
Indigos are global; they will need the skills of social networking and wireless technology to manage travel, language shifts, and maintaining communication with home. The Indigos brought about social networks such as MySpace, Facebook and Twitter, to allow them to be in touch with each other constantly. They are authentic and transparent so social networks are playgrounds for them to share every aspect of themselves with the world. They are also very intuitive and have knowingness about certain things in their life. Being aware of energies around them, they are sensitive to environmental toxins and lies (they can pick up any lack of integrity in no time).
The Indigos live profoundly in the now. They appear to be happy, very spirited and have their own agenda. They assist others to find their truth and peace by bringing subtle messages to people around them. Most of them have a knowing that they are here on a mission and that is their life-work.
Some people think that Indigo children are wide-eyed, magical children of the Universe with psychic abilities. This myth has been carried so far that it is completely discounted in most places because it contains so many elements of fantasy. Since Indigos are replacing all other colours, they represent the entire spectrum of human life. Every Indigo is unique but there are common traits that they all have. An Indigo child is usually an individual with the following characteristics:
1. They have a sense of ‘I deserve to be here’ and are surprised when others don’t share that.
2. They act like royalty sometimes.
3. They have difficulty with authority without explanation or choice.
4. They are headstrong and simple will not do certain things.
5. They dislike systems that are ritualistic and don’t require creative thought. They often see better ways of doing things.
6. They are very clear about ‘who they are’ and often let people around them know that.
7. They possess a burning desire to help the world in a big way.
8. They require constant stimulation and excitement in their lives as they get bored easily.
9. They are highly creative in various fields.
10. Independent and proud. They can seem anti-social when they are with people who don’t resonate with them.
11. Mostly ‘old souls’ who are wise beyond their years and have a good understanding about the world in general.
12. They are gifted with a strong intuition. Many have an affinity for nature, angels, crystals, plants and animals.
Just because the Indigos are more aware than the average person, it doesn’t mean that all Indigos will become ministers and spiritual giants. They are proof of the evolution in the human consciousness, beyond the ‘old energy’ of the previous generations.
If you find that you have all if the characteristics in the list above, congratulations! Now, you know that you are not alone. There are plenty of people like you everywhere. Just go around and spot the others so you can unite your energies to spread more light on Earth.
