A miracle is a shift in perception. There is no order or size of difficulty.
— A Course In Miracles
ARE you completely satisfied with your life? Are you at peace with every aspect of your life - be it your career, finances, relationships, health, spiritual well-being, emotional state?
Most of us aren’t 100 per cent satisfied with who we are or what we have. This lack of fulfilment stems from having a split mind.
“Our minds are split from an early age. We arrive on the planet full of love, and separation happens in a gradual process as we journey through life.” says
Ann Marie Woodall, author of Secrets Of A High-Heeled Healer.
The innocence of a child starts to get tainted with fear and doubts about life. Being a child, he doesn’t know how to respond to certain situations in his life. He takes on a personality as a survival mechanism to cope with the changes in life. The child now believes in both love and fear.
“Thinkers, mystics and psychologists have coined many terms for this psychological crisis but I call these parts of our mind the ‘Miracle Mind’ (love) and the ‘Ego Dramatist’ (fear). The Miracle Mind is the true source of our power. It remembers we are gifted and have a connection to heaven. The Miracle Mind comes from a place of bonding, luck, manifesting, trust and intuition. It comes from love.
However, the Ego Dramatist is suffering from amnesia because it doubts that we have any connection to heaven and thinks we are alone in this world. The Ego Dramatist comes from fear. It believes in lack - not enough money, not enough love, not enough support, not enough time. It is always looking and never seems to find,” explains Woodall.
Which part of your mind speaks the loudest - the Miracle Mind or the Ego Dramatist?
Whenever we are stressed, angry, lost and stuck in drama, we have been listening to the Ego Dramatist. The majority of us constantly shift from one part of our mind to the other. The secret is to start trusting your Miracle Mind on a regular basis and your entire attitude will change with time. Miracles will happen.
She says: “All we are is just a body of thoughts and beliefs. A belief is a thought that got stuck in time and it becomes our strategy for success. Lay all your beliefs on the table and question every one of them to find out if they are true or not. Often, they are not.”
Woodall brilliantly illustrated to me how the mind got split. Drawing a circle which represents our originally innocent mind, she showed me how it eventually ends up looking like a badminton racket full of lines and cracks. Every string on that racket symbolises a past memory which can be a feeling of loss, hurt, abandonment, heartbreak or rejection.
“From gangsters to gurus, everybody in this world has one of these rackets. Rather than just cut up the strings and let the painful emotions go, we save them up and use them as ammunition to keep people at arm’s length. Most of the time, we don’t even know that we’re doing it,” explains Woodall.
We hold on to past mistakes, misunderstandings, hurts and grievances leaving us no room for fresh experiences or new people. We stop taking risks and start to close down. Despite sudden flashes of inspiration, we don’t take the effort to transform ourselves because the Ego Dramatist has persuaded us that it is not going to work, so why bother?
Are you ready to clean up your racket and explore areas of your life where you have unconsciously sabotaged yourself? Do you want to discover the roles you play that hold you back from achieving your dreams? Are you willing to release old heartbreaks and rekindle your relationships?
Refreshingly humorous, she helps others to find purpose, passion and adventure using simple yet very effective processes. Her creative, open and down-to-earth style puts everyone she meets at ease instantly.
Woodall specialises in the psychology of relationships and transformation. Since 1989, she has been travelling around the world to share simple models of transformation and assisting them to connect to their authentic self.
She has worked with people from diverse cultures from the First Nations (aboriginal people) in Canada and women with AIDS living in the shelters in Cape Town to high-flyers in multi-national corporations in Europe. We are all searching for love.
Manchester-born Woodall is giving a free talk titled “Success or Sabotage: Your Choice?” at The Violet Flame at 7.30pm, on July 15 (Thursday).
